Conversation Café: Civility in Dialogue and Protest
1:00 PM - 3:00 PM

The library is proud to sponsor another session in an ongoing series of community discussions.  This time of year is well-known for fraught conversations around the holiday dinner table, conversations that are sure to be more animated in this era of increasingly bitter political divides.  What is the role of civility in these conversations, both at home and in the wider world?  Is it ever okay to ditch civility in pursuit of a deeply-held conviction?  And what’s behind some of the most contentious disagreements in today’s society?  All points of view are welcome for a respectful and civil dialogue, maintained using tried-and-true methods of discourse (see www.conversationcafe.org for details).  Dig into the issues while enjoying a drink of your choice—the first one’s on the library!  It’s time to get to know each other again.

All On Board: Mission
10:00 AM - 11:30 AM

In 2018, New York revised its laws to require every employer to annually train its employees on preventing and responding to sexual harassment.  By law, the training has to meet certain basic requirements, including an element of “interactivity.”

Join the Southern Tier Library System for a training that not only meets those requirements, but is designed to address the special ethics and unique challenges of today’s libraries.  Drawing on real-world cases and using interactive learning, “All on Board” transforms a “mandatory training” into a chance for library trustees, leaders, employees and volunteers to explore how a commitment to civil rights can help create a space that is welcoming to all.

There will be two, repeated  exactly the same sessions of this training--one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Please register for the session most convenient for you, your staff and your trustees

WordPress Updates & Google Analytics for Annual Reports
9:30 AM - 11:30 AM

On Monday, December 17th, from 9:30 to 11:30am, Erika Jenns and Ken Behn will lead a workshop at STLS Headquarters on changes coming to WordPress and updates to Google Analytics.

Each year, libraries are expected to report the number of visits to their website on the Annual Report. Get a head start on this part of your Annual Report at this workshop! If you've been having trouble with Google Analytics, or if you don't receive any analytics at all for your library website - please attend this workshop! Ken & Erika can help!

Please bring a laptop, and you login information for WordPress and Google Analytics (if you have an account).
