The Art of Pop Music – Aretha Franklin

oin us on Thursday, March 23 at 7pm for a retrospective of the music and career of Aretha Franklin with special guest Dr. Joel Keller. Aretha Franklin recorded a total of 112 charted singles on Billboard, including 77 Hot 100 entries, 17 top ten pop singles, 100 R&B entries and twenty number-one R&B singles, becoming the most charted female artist in the chart's history. This presentation will follow her career from 1967 through her performance at the 2015 Kennedy Center Honors concert and play selections of her music.

About Dr. Keller:

Dr. Joel S. Keller earned a Bachelor of Science degree from McGill University, Montreal, Canada and a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from the California College of Podiatric Medicine, in San Francisco.   He spent 24 years in private practice in Lorain and then started a second career in IT consulting and marketing and business development.

His interest in music has led to the creation of courses on the History of Rock and Roll and other musical genres for the “Institute for Learning in Retirement” at Baldwin-Wallace University.  Dr. Keller has delivered interactive talks on musical and non-musical topics across Northeastern Ohio more than 350 times since September 2014 and he is currently booking into the 1st and 2nd Quarters of 2022 and beyond.

Dr. Keller and his wife, Linda, live in North Ridgeville.  They have 3 grown children and 5 grandchildren.
