IN-LIBRARY EVENT

We've honored Veterans Day 70 years, since 1954 and Armistice Day, which is what it was originally called, for longer.  As we look to honor our veterans this November, we hope you consider this program. This workshop is to provide an interactive program designed to increase the knowledge about the historical contributions of Black soldiers to strengthen democracy and make the American military a world power.

Also to help participants become more sensitized and empathetic to the challenges of racism and discrimination of black soldiers in the military by providing first-hand narratives.

Discussions and focus of black special forces that helped to liberate other nations and fight against Nazism, while blacks still experienced discrimination and racial prejudice in their own country.

The workshop will also explore the achievements of black soldiers becoming officers and leaders in the military despide the barriers they had to overcome. There will be a deep dive into the accomplishments of General Arthur Gregg, three star general, who was recently honored in the renaming of Ft. Lee to Ft. Gregg-Adams.  Gen. Arthur Gregg also happens to be the cousin of our speaker.
