This presentation is for writers who are working on a manuscript and dream of one day publishing it. We’ll talk about the massive changes that have swept through the publishing industry, and the opportunities and challenges that have resulted for authors. The presentation is designed to help writers make informed decisions and plan their path to publication.

- Hallie Ephron (http://hallieephron.com), Milton’s 2023-2024 Dr. Herb Voigt Writer in Residence, is the New York Times bestselling author of 16 traditionally published books, including eleven mystery novels and Edgar Award finalist Writing & Selling Your Mystery Novel.
- Sharon Ward (https://sharonward.com) is the author of self-published books including six thrillers and an information-packed guide to self-publishing, Smart Self-Publishing Strategies.
Registration for this program is required and will open three weeks in advance of the program.
The Milton Public Library Writer-in-Residence is an aspiring or published writer, residing in Milton, MA who furthers the library’s fundamental mission through the creation of an original piece of work and sharing their expertise through developing and offering library programming. Herb Voigt was a member of the Library Board of Trustees from 2012 until his passing in 2018. Herb was a committed Library supporter, both as a Trustee and a member of the Milton Library Foundation. In addition to Herb’s distinguished scientific and academic career, he was a lover and supporter of the arts. This Writer-in-Residence program celebrates Herb’s commitment to libraries and to the arts.
