July 30th: Wildlife Sanctuaries Grades K-2 (Virtual)
Create a habitat for your favorite zoo animal to keep it happy and healthy. Will you choose a giraffe, an elephant, a tiger, or maybe something else! Think about designing spaces for your animal to play, sleep, and eat!
-Cardboard base (at least 14x14, can be cut from a mailing box) OR a carton with the sides cut down to a few inches
-Construction and/or tissue paper
-Small recycled boxes to make a shelter for your animal
-Natural materials, such as twigs, pinecones, and pebbles
-Scissors, tape, & glue
-Optional: supplies you have at home like toothpicks, popsicle sticks, pipe cleaners, tin foil, paper straws, markers, animal figurines, playdough, etc.
Have fun designing spaces for our animal friends using simple household supplies. Children will first explore how animals create their homes. Then we will investigate how humans create spaces for animals. Each week is a new, exciting activity. Please check the calendar description for materials/supplies you will need to have at home. Engaging and interactive instruction by ArchForKids, which provides hands-on, minds-on architecture projects for young people (www.archforkids.com)
