Join the ladies from Best Bib and Tucker for a fun night out at the library. With over 20 different ways to tie a scarf on the agenda, you're sure to learn something new. From oversized blanket scarves and infinity loops to simple rectangles and silk squares, we'll have a tie for each! Bring a scarf or two to practice with (we'll have a few available too). Class size is limited to 45 adult/teen (16 & over) participants.

NORDONIA HILLS GAME TIME

We welcome library patrons to a regular monthly event – a place to meet up with fellow game players of all ages.

The room is open to players of chess, role-playing games, board games, Euro games, standard cards, mah-jongg, war games, and trading/collectible card games.

Bring your own games, or try a game from our collection already on hand. No registration required! Refreshments are served.

Third Saturday of each month.

This event is also open to regular card groups and other game clubs looking for a venue.

Come on out to meet fellow local players – Learn new games – Sharpen your intellect – and enjoy the social aspects of games.

Jan 6: Penguin Party! Did you know that there are penguins that live in warm places?  Learn fun facts about penguins through penguin stories, rhymes and songs, and make your own edible penguin craft!

Jan 20: Ballet Excel presents The Magic Flute. Don’t miss this interactive program which includes dance, storytelling, and a meet-and-greet with the dancers. Bring your camera if you’d like to take pictures.

A film which examines the Prison Industrial Complex using interviews by civil rights crusader Angela Davis, and other prison reformers, is presented. The documentary also highlights the work of Susan Burton, former incarcerated mother who established A New Way of Life, which is a group of transitional homes for women coming home from incarceration. Scholars of an idea called the Prison Abolition Movement, will discuss the movement and analyze the racial and gender violence in prison. Reentry material and handouts provided. Room 1.

This open event is not a boring lecture, it's a casual and interactive converstion with scientist Carol Thaler from Great Lakes Biomimicry. She will discuss mimicry in nature's patterns and how these stratatgies can solve complex human problems.

This Reentry in Motion program showcases a documentary that not only looks at the overcrowding of the jail system in Philadelphia, but centers on Michelle Alexander’s theory in her groundbreaking book, The New Jim Crow, through the rise of the drug war and “tough on crime” policies. The film also dissects the rise of incarceration in the U.S., illustrates how the emerging Occupy Movement offers hope for change, and explores possible reforms and solutions to end mass incarceration. This month's meeting of the Akron Inventors Club will feature Inventor and Entrepreneur Greg Getzinger. Greg is the inventor of the Portion Padl. It is sold commercially worldwide to independent pizzerias, pizza franchises, convenient stores, grocery stores and schools. He is going to share his invention process from idea to commercialization. Come hear how he turned a problem into a product. Greg was born and raised in Akron, Ohio and is the CEO of NuvoVa Corp.

MS Word, Part 3: Useful Editing and Reviewing Tools

Make your document stand out!. Learn how to insert Headers, Footers, and Page Numbers.  Learn how to check spelling and grammar and discover tools to insert comments, and track changes of your document, a useful function when you collaborate with others. You will also learn how to use Macros and various types of Tab Stops.  Also learn how Attendance at MS Word, Part 2 is preferred.

Google Drive I

In this class you will sign-up for a Google account in order for you to begin using Google Drive.   There will be a discussion about the different features of Google Drive and cloud storage.  We will create a document in Google Docs, which is very similar to Microsoft Ward, so that you may learn the different formatting commands.   Having some knowledge of MS Word, Excel, & PowerPoint before taking this class is recommended.

Jan 20: Ballet Excel presents The Magic Flute. Don’t miss this interactive program which includes dance, storytelling, and a meet-and-greet with the dancers. Bring your camera if you’d like to take pictures.
