THE TIME TRAVELER'S WIFE by Audrey Niffenegger

This clever and inventive tale works on three levels: as an intriguing science fiction concept, a realistic character study and a touching love story. On the surface, Henry and Clare Detamble are a normal couple living in Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood. Henry works at the Newberry Library and Clare creates abstract paper art, but the cruel reality is that Henry is a prisoner of time. It's no wonder that the film rights to this hip and urban love story have been acquired.

THE SPACE BETWEEN US by Thrity Umrigar

Set in modern-day India and witnessed through two compelling and achingly real women, the novel shows how the lives of the rich and the poor are intrinsically connected yet vastly removed from each other, and vividly captures how the bonds of womanhood are pitted against the divisions of class and culture.

You’re invited to join us on the second Thursday of each month at 2 pm for a lively book discussion, treats and more! Pick up your copy of each book at the front desk.

Bring a chronology of your work and/or educational history with you to these workshops, and use resume writing software that offers hundreds of pre-written job duty descriptions to clearly define your skills and qualifications. Take the hassle out of trying to come up with phrases ridden with cliches and jargon that only serve to confuse the reader. Practice with the built-in videos to sharpen your job interviewing and salary negotiating skills. Don't let tricky or difficult questions spoil your chances at landing that coveted job! Take advantage of overlay themes that will make your resume and/or cover letter look clean, uncluttered, and professional. Save your work as an electronic document and leave our workshop with a high-impact ready-to-print product.

Attendees must bring a flash drive on which to save their work. Inexpensive flash drives ($4.50/512mb) are available for purchase at the Library. Ear buds (for listening to the videos) are also available for purchase at the Library for $1.00, or bring your own.

The holiday madness is only just beginning for Goldy as she is soon drawn into the mystery. Sandee Brisbane who killed Goldy's ex-husband, the Jerk, is supposed to be dead or so everyone believes. But like the ghost of Christmas past, Sandee keeps making an appearance. Could she be out to prove that revenge is sweet?

THE BONE GARDEN by Tess Gerritsen

“Present day: Julia Hamill has made a horrifying discovery on the grounds of her new home in rural Massachusetts: a skull buried in the rocky soil - human, female, and, according to the trained eye of Boston medical examiner Maura Isles, scarred with the unmistakable marks of murder.

Boston, 1830: In order to pay for his education, medical student Norris Marshall has joined the ranks of local “resurrectionists” - those who plunder graveyards and harvest the dead for sale on the black market. But when a distinguished doctor is found murdered and mutilated on university grounds, Norris finds that trafficking in the illicit cadaver trade has made him a prime suspect.

With unflagging suspense and pitch-perfect period detail, THE BONE GARDEN deftly traces the dark mystery at its heart across time and place to a finale as ingeniously conceived as it is shocking.” www.goodreads.com
