Our summer reading Club theme for 2015 is "Every Hero Has a Story" for children ages birth through entering 5th grade.  The first day to register is Friday, May 29 at the Summer Reading Kick-Off Party beginning at 6:30 pm, and registration will be ongoing throughout the summer months.  Registration is FREE and includes a registration packet and reading log.  Children can report their reading time weekly to receive a prize and raffle tickets for end-of-the-summer prizes! This program runs through August 21.

Students entering grades 6-12 are invited to participate in Teen Drama Club!  Practice will be held twice a week for two hours each day with a performance on Friday, August 14 at 7:00 pm at Harrison Middle School.  You must be available for most of the practices and for the performance date.  Registration is required. Parental permission forms are available online or at the library and must be completed before the first practice is held.

Practice dates: Tuesdays, June 23-August 4 from 5:30-7:30 pm and Wednesdays, June 24-August 5 from 1:00-3:00 pm at the Baldwin Library

Dress rehearsal practice: August 10-13 from 1:00-4:00 pm at Harrison Middle School

Performance night:  August 14 at 7:00 pm at Harrison Middle School

GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare and the Carnegie Science Center are teaming up to bring their wildly popular "Science in the Summer" program back to the Baldwin Library! This year's topic is Bioscience. Students will use magnifying glasses and compound microscopes to learn about and examine the differences between plant and animal cells, compare cultures grown in petri dishes, and learn how scientists discover new medicines and vaccines.  This program occurs over a period of four consecutive days, and you must be able to attend all four programs. We have combined our grade groups to include grades 2-6. THERE IS A LIMIT OF 18 STUDENTS IN THIS SESSION. Registration for this program is required and is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Monday-Thursday, June 29 through July 2 from 11 am-12 pm (Grades 2-6)

We will be alternating art and music to create a camp your child won’t want to miss! Be prepared to get messy in art camp with a little paint and a lot of creativity! Music camp will highlight a featured instrument with a story and a make-and-take musical instrument! This program is geared to children ages 3-6, but all ages are welcome! Registration required.

We will focus on stories that highlight character traits such as kindness, caring, compassion, acceptance, and differences.  Books will be available at the library one month before each club meeting date.  In addition, we will choose a monthly service project to give back and spread kindness to our community. Together, we can brighten the world, one good book and one good deed at a time.  Registration requested.

Each child in attendance will make a superhero cape for their stuffed friend, hear a story, have a snack, and tuck their stuffed friend into “bed” somewhere in the library for the night. Everyone returns the next morning to pick up their stuffed friend, enjoy donuts and juice, and find out what “mischief” their friend got into! Registration requested.

Students entering grades 2-5 can participate in this exciting program that allows all learners to act as engineers and engage in all stages of the engineering design process. Children will learn about green engineering and work to engineer toy race cars made of recycled materials. A recycled racer rally will be held at the end of the final program! This program is designed as a series and will occur over the course of three weeks. Registration required (registration form for July 13 guarantees registration for all three sessions).

In this unique program combining chalk and photography, students in grades 6-12 are invited to share their time and talent by creating outlines of various designs with sidewalk chalk on a paved work surface. Younger children (grades K-3) will color in the design and then pose in the photograph as a design element! Younger children will then have an opportunity to create their own design! Photo permission forms will need to be signed upon arrival of the program. Registration requested.

We will be alternating art and music to create a camp your child won’t want to miss! Be prepared to get messy in art camp with a little paint and a lot of creativity! Music camp will highlight a featured instrument with a story and a make-and-take musical instrument! This program is geared to children ages 3-6, but all ages are welcome! Registration required.
