Kenneth J. Serfass, retired Gunnery Sgt USMC presents “Presidential Recolletions.” ~~Ken has been appearing publically as General Grant since 2009, performing in the History Channel production in 2010, “Lee & Grant,”  in a 2013 HBO episode of “Family Tree”, and a Time Warner Cable commercial in 2014.  Currently he speaks at events across the country. He has portrayed Grant in the Gettysburg Remembrance Day parades for the past three years. Ken's talk will focuses on some of the high points of Grant’s administration: setting reconstruction right, being an advocate for the Freedmen's Bureau and also taking the plight of the Indians, along with overseeing the completion of the transcontinental railroad. It is with a profound honor that he tells the story of one of America’s greatest military leaders.

    Contact:      www.pittsburghsavoyards.org

The Pittsburgh Savoyards bring you The Pirates of Penzance: or, The Slave of Duty. This comic opera in two acts is regarded as one of the finest of Gilbert & Sullivan's works, and masterfully staged by this 78-year theatrical company!

The story concerns Frederic, who, having completed his 21st year, is released from his apprenticeship to a band of tender-hearted pirates. He meets Mabel, the daughter of Major-General Stanley, and the two young people fall instantly in love. Frederic soon learns, however, that he was born on 29 February, and so, technically, he only has a birthday each leap year. His indenture specifies that he remain apprenticed to the pirates until his 21st birthday and that he must serve for another 63 years. Bound by his own sense of duty, Frederic's only solace is that Mabel agrees to wait for him faithfully.

Join us for the third performance of this 115th Anniversary Season, as we welcome back this dynamic brass quintet to our historic Music Hall!

In 2015, the ACFL&MH collaborated with Monique Mead and Andres Cardenas, from Carnegie-Mellon University’s School of Music, to bring to life one of our most successful benefit events to date! Although one would be hard-pressed to eclipse the talent of the Cardenas family, Rodrigo Ojeda, and Caitlin Quinlan–the culminating and most talked about performance of that evening was the wildly successful C Street Brass.

C Street Brass will perform an eclectic set comprised of classical, standard and original works. These artists bring a true joy to performance that is a perfect fit for the renowned acoustics of the Music Hall.

Tickets are reserved orchestra seating, $20 presale, $15 for students at the box office on day of event, and $30 regular admission on day of event. For tickets, visit www.carnegiecarnegie.org/ticketing

Complimentary shuttle service will be available from the Carnegie Municipal Lot on Main Street (between Mary and Pine Streets).

A beer and wine cash bar in the Basement Studio will be available from 6pm to one hour after the performance.

This event is made possible through the generosity of Dollar Bank and the A.W. Mellon and Charitable and Educational Trust of The Pittsburgh Foundation.

For the 5th performance of Listen Locally: The 115th Anniversary Season, The Andrew Carnegie Free Library & Music Hall is proud to present: We Remember: A Concert to Celebrate the Inner Life of Anne Frank.

This Sunday afternoon event will be a new iteration of Contralto Daphne Alderson and Pianist Norma Meyer’s carefully cultivated tribute to the young Jewish girl whose family perished in Nazi Germany in 1945.

This program nods to the struggles of the Jewish people via the compositions of Mahler (labeled as “degenerate” during the Nazi regime, and a vocal composition from Leo Smit (arrested and perished in 1944 at Sobibor) based on a poem by beloved Dutch poet Martinus Nijhoff. Michael Cohen’s I Remember, and two spirituals by Harry Burleigh provide austere company for Pittsburgh composer Douglas Levine’s Alone.

Ticketing information will be released shortly. Stay updated on upcoming events at www.carnegiecarnegie.org

This concert made possible by the generosity of the A.W. Mellon Educational and Charitable Trust of The Pittsburgh Foundation.

For the final performance of this 115th Anniversary Season, we bring you the Allegheny City Ragtime Orchestra!

Tom Roberts will reintroduce our audience to the forgotten ragtime composers of Pittsburgh, unearthed and performed for the first time in well over 100 years. George Reeg, KFW Guenther, Carl Bruno and other Pittsburgh composers will represent this "forgotten" period of Pittsburgh musical legacy! In addition, the ACRO will perform compositions from the original orchestrations of the great composers of the ragtime era, including: Scott Joplin, James Scott, Joseph Lamb, Tom Turpin and many others.
