    Contact: Diane Klinefelter   412-276-3456, x9   klinefelterd@einetwork.net

The Library’s Brown Bag Lecture Series features a monthly lecture and question-and-answer session with guest speakers  from around the community. All Brown Bag Lectures are free to the public. Because they usually take place over the lunch hour, guests are encouraged to bring their lunch; coffee, tea and water will be provided.

"Faberge, the Egg and the Romanoff Family." Speaker is Julie Hagar. ~~A Fabergé egg is one of a limited number of jeweled eggs created by Peter Carl Fabergé and his company between 1885 and 1917. The most famous are those made for the Russian Tsars Alexander III and Nicholas II as Easter gifts for their wives and mothers, often called the 'Imperial' Fabergé eggs. Come listen as Julie presents a fascinating talk on these symbols of the splendour, power and wealth of the Romanov dynasty and the Russian Empire.

The story of the Gettysburg campaign did not end July 3, 1863. The movement of the Army of Northern Virginia from Gettysburg and its pursuit by the Army of the Potomac concluded with the Battle of Falling Waters, Maryland on July 14. Speaker George Franks will discuss the battle, his book, and his efforts to save the battlefield. Visit his website at www.fallingwatersmd1863.com.  Light refreshments served. Registration not required. Free and open to the public. 2nd Saturday Lecture Series made possible by the Massey Charitable Trust.

misc_none Stage 62 presents: Jesus Christ Superstar Remind Me about this Event   Tell a Friend
    Contact:      www.stage62.com

The first rock opera, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR depicts the meteor-like rise of Jesus as a parallel to contemporary celebrity worship. As his radical teachings are evermore embraced, Judas increasingly questions the enlightened motives of this new prophet, resulting in betrayal. Christ's final days are dramatized with emotional intensity, thought-provoking edge and explosive theatricality. Propelled by a stirring score, by turns driving and majestic, satirical and tender, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR illuminates the transcendent power of the human spirit with a passion that goes straight to the heart.

Music by Andrew Lloyd Webber ; Lyrics by Tim Rice

Presented through special arrangement with Rodgers & Hammerstein

Tickets: Adults: $20, Students/Seniors: $15  For more information and to order tickets in advance, visit www.stage62.com

As part of Listen Locally: The 115th Anniversary Season, The Andrew Carnegie Free Library& Music Hall is proud to present: We Remember: A Concert to Celebrate the Inner Life of Anne Frank.

This Sunday afternoon concert pairs contralto Daphne Alderson and Pianist Norma Meyer in their moving musical tribute to the young girl whose indomitable spirit survived and soared beyond her death in a Nazi concentration camp in 1945.

Deeply informed by Anne Franks remarkable and beloved "The Diary of a Young Girl" as well as the eternal reverberations of the Holocaust, this carefully cultivated performance incorporates compositions by Gustav Mahler, Leo Smit, Michael Cohen, Harry Burleigh, and Pittsburgh composer Douglas Levines musical setting of Maya Angelous poem "Alone".

A dessert reception with the performers follows the concert.  Complimentary shuttle service will be available from the Carnegie Municipal Lot on Main Street (between Mary and Pine Streets).

Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door, and $5 for children 12 and under.  For tickets, visit www.carnegiecarnegie.org/ticketing

Complementary community programming of "The Diary of Anne Frank" is being developed as a precursor to this tribute performance.  Stay updated on upcoming events at www.carnegiecarnegie.org

This concert made possible by the generosity of the A.W. Mellon Educational and Charitable Trust of The Pittsburgh Foundation.

    Contact: Maggie Forbes   412.276.3456, 6   forbesm@einetwork.net

For the final performance of its Listen Locally: 115th Anniversary Season, the Andrew Carnegie Free Library & Music Hall presents a landmark performance of the Allegheny City Ragtime Orchestra (ACRO)!

Tom Roberts, accomplished composer, stride pianist and musical archaeologist, will reintroduce audiences to the forgotten ragtime composers of Pittsburgh.  Roberts has unearthed an extraordinary trove of hidden musical gems that will be performed for the first time in more than 100 years. George Reeg, KFW Guenther and Carl Bruno are among the Pittsburgh composers will represent this "forgotten" period of Pittsburgh musical legacy.  In addition, the ACRO will perform compositions from the original orchestrations of the great composers of the ragtime era, including: Scott Joplin, James Scott, Joseph Lamb and Tom Turpin.

Complementary programming with Tom Roberts is being developed around Ragtime music and Pittsburgh's rediscovered early jazz legacy. Stay updated on upcoming events at www.carnegiecarnegie.org

This concert made possible by the generosity of the A.W. Mellon Educational and Charitable Trust of The Pittsburgh Foundation.
