Our Own Stories

In this nontraditional Preschool Story Time, books are read to preschoolers who love to read!  Songs, rhymes, fingerplays, and toys are used to help kids learn and love to read.  At the end of story time the kids are invited to put laminated pieces on a scene board and tell everyone their story that they created.  A great way to encourage imagination, creativity, and story-building!

Registration is NOT required. Tuesdays at 1:30pm

(Children learn best through role modeling. Caregivers are asked to be great role models and be attentive and engaged in the story time. Side conversations can take place during free play. Thanks!)

Dr. Stephen Phillips, from the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, will present

Medicine in Ancient Egypt, Part 2. This is a follow up to the very successful lecture on Ancient Egyptian Medicine

he presented in February, 2016.  Did the ancient Egyptians understand human anatomy? And, did they practice medicine?

The answer is yes! This richly illustrated presentation illuminates their medical world, the role of magic in their medicine,

and examines several actual cases from recent excavations - physical evidence of successful medical procedures has

been found on ancient Egyptian remains. Dr. Steve is back by popular demand! He has a loyal following at Ridley Township Library.

This is a Civic and Social Literacy Program of the PA Forward Initiative. It will be held in Garling Hall.

Growing Old is NOT for Sissies*

Harold Fry goes out to mail a letter to an old co-worker - and keeps right on walking.  He's decided to visit his old friend, who only lives  about 500 miles away.  But the retired brewery office-worker has nothing to keep him at home, especially not his wife, whom he probably  doesn't love anymore.  So why not?

Thanks!)
