Each week our story times involve an educational theme and also include movin' and groovin' in our songs providing some great physical activity. This week some of our local police officers will be visiting us during story time. They will be  educating us about the very important roles they play in our community and how they keep us safe. We will end each storytime with our traditional book trek around the children's department finding all the books we want to take home.

Kids! Teens! Families!  You've been reporting on your books here at Furness Library.  You've helped us build bridges, skyscrapers, electrical circuits and a community garden as part of our "Build a Better World" theme. You've listened to amazing stories and read to live PAWS dogs.  You've watched jugglers and learned to use 5 different SKOYZ skill toys.   You've made modular origami and played complex board games.  Now it's time to party!

Join us at 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 27th for some beat-the-heat, refreshing WATER ICE.  Vote on your favorite flavor when you come to report on books Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesdays from 1-3 (thru July 26th) or our final reporting night this Thursday the 20th between 7:15 & 8:30 p.m. or when you attend any of our programs.  We will serve 2 flavors based on your votes!

Sciencetellers Return to Aston Library for another great show!!!

"BUILDING: TALL SHIPS & PIRATE TALES" (SUMMER 2017)

Ahoy! People don’t just build on land. They build on water, too! Set sail with us on a thrilling action-packed adventure about a crew of quirky pirates marooned on a desert island. With mutiny and high-tide looming, they must rescue their salty captain and find a way to construct a ship before all hope is lost … at sea! Planks, sails, rigging, rails... what else could building a pirate ship possibly take?!

Throughout the story, volunteers from the audience will help us explore the incredible science behind clouds, combustion, air pressure, scientific variables and more! Do not miss this refreshing nautical tale with a twist!

This program addresses Next Generation Science Standards PS1 (A-B) PS2 and PS3.

Suitable for ages preschool - grade 8. Free.

Today's Family Fun Show: Puppets Pizzazz

This puppet show is set up as a variety show with over twenty-five professional hand puppets used to perform nine funny songs and humorous skits. In between each act, there is an MC puppet who tells jokes and riddles. Each song or skit is only about two or three minutes long, so it is easy to hold the children’s attention- including toddlers! What makes Puppets Pizzazz puppet shows different is that they take popular music from today’s artists and they put a satirical spin on it.

Family Fun Shows are suitable for ages 3-10, but all are welcome to join the fun.

Shows are free, and registration is not required.
