Growing Old is NOT for Sissies*

Ove is cranky, rigid, and short-tempered.  He's done with living and is planning on suicide.  But life, in the form of new neighbors, an  old frenemy, and a scrawny cat, keeps upsetting his plans.  How did he get that way, and will he actually be able to carry out his plans?

"...a fuzzy crowd-pleaser that serves up laughs to accompany a thoughtful reflection on loss and love"  from Publisher's Weekly Review.

Growing Old is NOT for Sissies*

Harold Frye goes out to mail a letter to an old co-worker - and keeps right on walking.  He's decided to visit his old friend, who only lives  about 500 miles away.  But the retired brewery office-worker has nothing to keep him at home, especially not his wife, whom he probably  doesn't love anymore.  So why not?

"...a gentle and genteel charmer, brimming with British quirkiness yet quietly haunting "  from Booklist Reviews.

Growing Old is NOT for Sissies*

Liam Pennywell has been downsized from his job. (not fires, you understand - downsized.) So he decides to downsize his whole life. He  didn't plan on getting mugged and ending up in the hospital.  He thought his life was empty before, now he can't even remember how he  ended up in the hospital.  Looking to fill in those hours, he may just fill in the life he's still living.

"Tyler's gift is to make the reader empathize with this flawed but decent man, and to marvel at how this determinedly low-key,  plainspoken novelist achieves miracles of insight and understanding."  from Publishers Weekly Reviews.
