The Great Books Discussion Group will begin its thirty-fourth year on September 3, 2008. The group meets the first Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. Its purpose is to understand and appreciate great writing through the sharing of ideas.
The only requirement for attending a Great Books meeting is that you read the selection to be discussed. There is no charge and no pre-registration. You need not attend all the meetings, but you will find the discussions more interesting if you come to as many meetings as possible.
We discuss only the assigned readings (or those read previously) so that all participants will be familiar with the material. We do not refer to or quote sources other than the text itself but seek to understand the writings through our own efforts.
