Four years later, with nothing more to lose, she made the most impulsive decision of her life. This one day training program has the goal of preparing community professionals to conduct Abusive Head Trauma prevention trainings in their agencies and communities.   Abusive Head Trauma (AHT) is the name for injuries to an infant’s brain caused by vigorous shaking. This kind of violent shaking most often happens as a result of a caregiver’s extreme and overwhelming frustration in response to a baby’s incessant crying.   The effects of Abusive Head Trauma are devastating for the victims and their families.  Very importantly, Abusive Head Trauma can be prevented.

The training provides participants with an understanding of Abusive Head Trauma including its definition, causes, and consequences.  Participants will also learn methods of engaging parents and other caregivers in strength-based discussions related to understanding and responding effectively to infant crying and to calming themselves in situations where they may be frustrated or overwhelmed with an infant’s crying.  Finally, participants are prepared to deliver a half-day community training module in their agencies and communities. At the end of the training they receive the full community training module including accompanying instructional videos and become part of the Children’s Trust’s network of community AHT trainers.

Forgiveness means freeing yourself of the past.  Often, the biggest challenges in life come from the mind's disturbances-persistent thoughts, regrets, fears, worries, and long-held grudges.  Meditation deepens your understanding of yourself and others, awakens your consciousness, and connects you to your personal inner peace.  It opens the door to being able to forgive, both yourself and others.

The Silk Road Art Guild presents: The Dance of Life: Land Sea and Sky.  This exhibit will focus on our natural world, its beauty and its fragility.  The world is our only home and we want to celebrate it and preserve it for the generations yet to come.  Our art focuses on the earth from the perspective of that Eastern sensibility which tells us that the life around us is indeed the life within us as well.  Art is the expression of the human response to life as it is lived.  The paintings and weavings shown in this exhibit are the creation of the artists and the natural objects are the creation of time, water, air and earth.
