The Massachusetts Food System Plan will establish a vision for a food system that is socially just, environmentally resilient, and ripe with economic opportunities.

Massachusetts has a rich and diverse food system – from varied agriculture, to innovative food processing facilities, to initiatives to improve the health and affordability of food in our communities.

In order to further strengthen the way we harvest, process, and obtain our food, the Massachusetts Food Policy Council initiated a process to craft a statewide Food System Plan that ties together the many elements of the Massachusetts food system. The process of creating the plan will involve identifying gaps, gathering public input, and finally crafting an actionable plan to make our food system serve our needs even better.

We want to hear from you! Join us at the Central Massachusetts Forum and come weigh in on what's happening in your local food system - on farms, in food processing, with community food organizations, etc..

  • What are you doing really well?
  • What are the major problems in the area?
  • What do you see as the most important ways to improve your food system?

Read, snack and discuss We Were Liars by E. Lockhart!  Cadence Sinclair Easton comes from an old-money family, headed by a patriach who owns a private island off of Cape Cod.  Each summer, the extended family gathers at the various houses on the island and Cadence, her cousins Johnny and Mirren, and friend Gat, have been inseparable since age eight.  During their fifteenth summer, however, Cadence suffers a mysterious accident.  She spends the next two years - and the course of the book - in a haze of amnesia, debilitating migraines and painkillers, trying to piece together just what happened.  Sponsored by the Friends of the Worcester Public Library.  For more information call (508) 799-1687.
