The Lyme Public Library is pleased to welcome Professor Dame Alison Richard, of Yale University who is the author of the new book “Sloth Lemur’s Song”, a fascinating account of the impact of climate change on Madagascar. Madagascar is a biodiversity hot-spot where its forests and wildlife have expanded and contracted in response to shifting climate changes making it a microcosm of global trends. Professor Richard has studied Madagascar for decades immersing herself in conservation activity there. What happened and continues to happen on the island of Madagascar might just be the best indication of what can be done both positively and negatively in terms of the damages inflicted by sudden or prolonged man-made changes in the earth’s climate.
