The Gourmands' Way: Six Americans in Paris and the Birth of a New Gastronomy by Justin Spring (2017, 448 pages) A biography of six writers on food and wine—A. J. Liebling, Alice B. Toklas, M.F.K. Fisher, Julia Child, Alexis Lichine, and Richard—whose lives and careers intersected in mid-twentieth-century France, and who transformed the way Americans talk and think about food as well as the way we eat.

Food for Thought: A Culinary Book Discussion Group reads books that explore the many ways that food expresses, affects, and enriches our lives. Discussions are held on the fourth Monday of every month, excluding December.
