Dewey Decimal Classification [Hyannis]
Thursday April 27, 2017
10:00 AM until 1:00 PM
The Dewey Decimal (DDC) system is the most widely used library classification system in the world. It is used by 95% of the public and school libraries in the U.S. However, what started as a slim book in 1876, has grown to 4 volumes and can sometimes be confusing to navigate. Learn more about Melvil Dewey and his revolutionary idea. We’ll cover the basics, have lots of practice building numbers, and learn where to go for more information. Please bring a recent edition (22nd or 23rd unabridged; 14th or 15th abridged) of DDC and items that need classifying. This 3-hour workshop will be presented by cataloging consultant, Dodie Gaudet.
Location: CLAMS 270 Communication Way, Unit 4E Hyannis, MA 02601
