Passes may be reserved by Adult PJFL cardholders up to 30 days in advance. A maximum of one pass per family may be borrowed at one time and each individual museum pass may be reserved only once per month. 

Each museum sets its own restrictions and you must comply with their rules. Some may require that you reserve a specific time slot for your visit and/or charge additional fees. Please direct any questions to the specific museum. The Library is not responsible for museum closures and recommends that you call museums before reserving passes. You are responsible for planning your trip. Be sure to check the museum’s hours before you reserve a museum pass. Not all events/exhibits are covered with the museum pass. Additional fees are your responsibility.

You must bring both the museum pass and your library card to the museum, and make a separate reservation with the museum if applicable.

Two types of passes are available:

Print at Home Passes (purple): Reservations MUST be made for the DATE YOU WISH TO USE THE PASS.

These passes are printed from home or at the Library and do NOT need to be returned therefore, there are no late fees. They must be printed since electronic versions on smartphones or tablets will not be accepted by museums. They are only valid for the date of the visit listed on the confirmation page.  

Pick Up/Return at Library Passes (yellow): Reservations MUST be made for the DAY BEFORE YOUR VISIT.

These passes will be picked up at the Circulation Desk. All Pick Up/Return at Libary Passes may be borrowed for 3 days. Upon return, passes MUST be hand delivered to a Library staff member at the Circulation Desk one hour prior to closing time on the date due.

Museum Discounts: No reservation required

The Historical Society of Greater Port Jefferson offers 1 FREE Museum entry to the Mather House Museum with your Port Jefferson Free Library card, Memorial Day weekend through the fall. Simply show your PJFL card to the Museum. 

The Long Island Explorium offers $1 off each ticket during public hours 1:00 - 5:00 PM with your Port Jefferson Free Library card. Simply show your PJFL card to the Explorium.

As usual, if they reach the capacity limit, visitors will be asked to return at another time. Those with Print at Home Passes with reservations for a specific date will be the subject of a note for their staff to accept the pass on another day.
