The Baldwin Library invites children, teens, and adults to participate in our 2022 Winter Reading Challenge! Winter Reading Challenge will begin Monday, January 3rd and will run through Thursday, March 31st.
Children and Teens: Read 15 minutes for at least 15 days of the month. The library will provide each reader with a fun, interactive log to fill in for each reading session. Fully completed logs can be turned in during the last week of each month, and each child/teen will be entered to win one of three monthly prizes!
Adults: A reading slip will be completed for each title read and entered in our monthly prize drawing for a chance to win a local gift card.
Children ages 2-5 can stop in and pick up a take-and-make Shapes Snowman kit. Just stop into the library and pick up a kit at the front desk- no registration required.

Join us each month via YouTube/Facebook as members of our library staff read one of the six nominated books in this year’s Picture Book Children’s Choice Awards. Two books will be featured each month, with voting taking place in March...March Madness style! Videos are not livestreamed, so can be viewed any time.

Students in grades K-12 are invited to join us for our Art with a Heart event. Participants will be given paper and various art supplies to create paintings to be showcased by UPMC Presbyterian and UPMC Shadyside hospitals in prominent locations throughout the hospital. Patients, visitors and employees will enjoy the beauty of the artwork while highlighting the creativity of our community’s children. Registration and masks required.
Students in grades 4-6 are invited to join us monthly for a sculpting class using various materials, such as wire and clay, as well as various techniques taught by our locals artist Michelle! All materials will be provided.

Wednesdays at 6:30 pm: January 26 (metal relief sculptures), February 23 (cardboard sculptures), March 23 and April 13
Bring your baby (ages 0-2) to our morning storytime featuring stories, fun and engaging songs, rhymes, music and bubbles to conclude our program! Each registered family will receive their own book, musical instruments and rhyme and sing card to use during the program. All program supplies will be thoroughly cleaned for safe use. Return the supplies at the conclusion of the program and keep the rhyme and sing card to add to your collection! Please register for each session.

Teens (grades 6-12) can join local artist Michelle to paint a beautiful artistic creation with step-by-step instructions. Our program will be held after-hours in our Discovery Center area. Registration and masks required.

They’re back! Teens in Grades 6-12 can stop in the library to stay and make a craft here OR pick up a “to go” craft kit, complete with all of the supplies and instructions to make a creative teen craft! No registration required.

Relax and stretch with Candace, a seasoned Yoga instructor. She will be teaching all levels of yoga for 8 weeks (January 10 - February 28).
