Let's learn about pollinators today at our virtual story time on Instagram.

Happy spring! As a warm-up to the development of our "Pondside Patio" for families (complete with pollination stations) come by the library to grab a make-your-own butterfly kit (different than Tuesday's craft kit). While supplies last. Sponsored by the Friends of the Eastham Library.

Let's have some fun with Legos and friends in a timed virtual Lego building event! We will build our own version of the same item for a 5 minute time-span, and share our work. Next, we will make another item for a 4 minute time-span, then share what we made. Then, we will make another item for 3 minutes, the next one for 2 minutes, and finally, make the last one for 1 minute. A few rules apply - 1.) no mini-figures allowed 2.) no platforms allowed, 3.) no pieces already put together. Just have a mound of Legos on hand, include a space to build and you are ready for the challenge! Register at easthamlibrary.org and a Zoom link will be sent to you. Please let us know if you would like us to supply a starter kit of 50 basic Lego blocks by e-mailing fmcloughlin@clamsnet.org.

Join Fran as she reads "On Meadowview Street", and think about how you can make a difference in your neighborhood! Available on the library Instagram (@easthampubliclibrary) until next week.

Join Ehris Urban and Velya Jancz-Urban of Grounded Goodwife for an uplifting look at the history of the bra in America!
Eastham and Truro Public Libraries offer an uplifting virtual presentation of the history of the brassiere in America. Presented by the charming mother-daughter duo, Ehris Urban and Velya Jancz-Urban, their presentation will trace the path of the bra in American herstory, from corsets (which lifted breasts to artificial heights by pushing from below instead of lifting from above) to the 1913 invention of the first modern bra by socialite Mary Phelps Jacob (using two pocket handkerchiefs and some pink ribbon), to the bullet bra of the 40s, to modern-day pillow cup push-up plunge bras. This presentation illustrates how women’s bodies have been cinched, flattened down, and lifted up over the last century. According to Ehris and Velya, “You can discover a lot about women in history by how much cleavage was showing, and the era’s ideal breast shape.” It’s sure to be a good time, so please save the date and the zoom link in your calendar for May 25, 2021 at 7:00 pm
No registration is necessary.
