A Tales for 2s program for children 2 years old will be held on Wednesday mornings at 10:30am from September 24th through October 29th.  The program features picture book read-alouds, rhymes, fingerplays, songs and a simple craft or activity.  This program is designed to help young children with developing verbal skills and promote an early interest in books and reading.


Registration is required for the full 6-week session and is limited.  Registration begins Tuesday, September 9th.  All storytimes are free and all materials are provided.  Held in the John Clarke Children's Program Room.

Teens! - This is your chance to have a say in all things teen at the library!  Join our board - there is a one school year commitment - and you get have a say in events, our webpage and eventually our teen area re-design. Board members also get to reveiw the books they are already reading for our webpage - your can let the world know why you really loved or really hated that last book.  Monthly meetings and minimal outside work required.  New members always welcome.

Board time can often be used for community service hours. Check your organizations requirements.

Members of the Island Photography Group will lead a four part series of seminars to interested beginner level photographers. The series will run on Saturdays, October 4, October 11, October 18, and October 25 from 11:00 to 1:00pm. Each seminar will include a lecture-style presentation followed by hands-on activities.

Registration is limited to 20 participants. All registered participants must bring a camera and a copy of the camera's manual to each session.

Free and open to the public.

A Tiny Tots program for children birth to 23 months willl be held on Tuesday mornings at 11:30 from September 23rd through October 28th.  The program uses read-alouds, nursery rhymes, fingerplays and songs to help little ones learn the rhythms and patterns of speech.  Parents and children are given time to read board books together, followed by a brief play period and a chance for parents to network together.

Local Spanish teacher, Dana Edward Ramey, will provide a Bilingual storytime for families with children ages 3 and up on Saturday October 11th at 11:00am.  This storytime presents children's books in English and Spanish, uses songs and poems and provides a related activity.  Bilingual Storytime is excellent for families who speak Spanish as their first language as well as for children who are learning English or Spanish as a second language. 

No registration is required, just drop in.  Held in the John Clarke Children's Program Room.

Marc SeiferMarc Seifer will discuss his latest book Framed!: Murder, Corruption and a Death Sentence in Florida. The book tells the story of Stephen Rosati a former Mr. Rhode Island and owner of a posh health club. In 1986, RI State Police arrested Rosati for the murder four years earlier of a drug dealer named Joseph Viscido, Jr. in Deerfield, Florida. Though Rosati could prove he was 1,500 miles away at the time of the murder, he quickly found himself in jail for the next seventeen months. Learn more about this book at the program. Fulweiler Jr.  Mr. Fulweiler will discuss some of his experiences as a maritime attorney as well as his book, A Swim: A Block Islander Who Refused to Drown, which is based on the true story of a man who fell overboard without a life jacket and spent approximately eleven hours treading water in the Atlantic Ocean.
