ENRICHri, a non-profit, Rhode Island-based, secular homeschool group will present a free workshop for parents interested in homeschooling on Tuesday, April 28th @ 6:30pm in the lower level program room.  Topics for discussion include homeschooling laws in Rhode Island, reasons for choosing homeschooling, socialization, and curriculum planning.  Children are asked to remain at home as this event is geared toward adults.

A Squigglers program for children ages 15 months through 2 years old will be held on Tuesday mornings at 10:30 am from May 5th - 26th.  The program uses picture book read-alouds, rhymes, fingerplays and songs. This program is designed to help young children with developing verbal skills and promote an early interest in books and reading.  No registration is required for this free program held in the John Clarke Children's Program Room.

Children ages 6 - 12 are invited to attend LEGO Club!  Building with LEGOs inspires creativity and helps lay the foundation for logical mathematical thinking, scientific reasoning and problem solving.  LEGO Club also provides the opportunity for team building and/or individual  expression.  LEGO Club will meet on select  Friday afternoons from 4 pm - 5 pm:  May 15th, May 29th, and June 12th.  No registration is required - just drop in!

All materials will be provided for this free program.  LEGO creations must stay at the library, so bring a camera!  Please leave your own LEGOs at home that you don't lose your favorite pieces.

Local Spanish teacher Dana Edward Ramey will provide a Bilingual Storytime for families with children ages 3 - 12 on Saturday, May 16th at 11:00 am.  This storytime presents children's books in English and Spanish, uses songs and poems and provides a related activity.  Bilingual Storytime is excellent for families who speak Spanish as their first language as well as for children who are learing English or Spanish as a second language.

No registration is required, just drop in.  Held in the John Clarke Children's Program Room.

The Children's Department will present a free afternoon showing of Paddington, rated PG, for children ages 6 - 12 on Saturday, May  16th at 2:30 pm in the lower level program room.  No registration is required, just drop-in.

Striking out on his own, a young bear from Peru named Paddington, journeys to London to seek a home.  Despite having a love for everything British, Paddington has a hard time adjusting to the big city.  Finding himself alone and lost in Paddington station, the young bear is discovered by the kind Brown family.  They read the note around his neck, which asks that someone take care of him, and offer to let him live with them.  Things start to settle down as Paddington adjusts to his new home.  That is until a taxidermist from a museum sees Paddington and wants to add the rare bear to her collection.

Tweens, ages 8 - 12, are invited to join the Tween Advisory Group (TAG).  Participating in TAG will give kids an opportunity to be involved in what they see and do at the library.  TAG will meet once per month to discuss books, plan programs and work on special projects.  In addition, kids will enjoy a light snack and craft activity at every meeting!

TAG will meet  on Tuesday, May 19th at 4:00 pm.  The May craft will be Spring Puffy Paint Window Clings.
