Stories, rhymes, songs and a simple craft or experiment celebrating the Summer Reading theme "Fizz, Boom, Read!"  For children ages 2-4 and a caregiver.  No registration is required.  Held in the lower level program room.

Note: Although the library is CLOSED today, the program will take place as scheduled.  Children and parents attending storytime are asked to use the Spring Street entrance of the library.

Explore the connection between potential and kinetic energy.  Create marble roller coasters and send your marbles on loop-the-loops, spirals and more through over 6 feet of tubing.  Sponsored by the Friends of the Newport Pbulic Library and presented by the Rhode Island Museum of Science and Art.

This program is for Tweens, ages 8 - 12.  Registration is required and begins on June 23rd.  Visit the Children's Desk or call 847-8720 ext. 204 to sign up.  Held in the John Clarke Children's Program Room.

NOTE: Although the library is closed today, the Marble Roller Coaster program will take place as scheduled.  Participants are asked to use the Spring Street entrance of the library.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2Children ages 6 and up and their families are invited to a free afternoon showing of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2, rated PG.  No registration is required.  Held in the lower level program room.

Inventor Flint Lockwood thought he saved the world when he destroyed his machine that turned water into food causing cheeseburger rain and spaghetti tornadoes. But Flint soon learns that his invention survived and is now creating food-animals. Flint and his friends embark on a dangerously delicious mission to battle hungry tacodiles, shrimpanzees, hippotatomuses, cheespiders and other foodimals to save the world again!

Celebrate another great summer of reading at the end of summer reading outdoor fair!  Featuring polynesian dance with Laura Matta at 11:00am and a puppet workshop with Sue Klau at 12:00pm.  Readers who completed the summer reading program will receive a certificate, free book, Fizz, Boom, Read! pencil and Fizz, Boom, Read! doorknob hanger.  Grand prizes will be awarded.  Come for food, activities and fun!  Held in Aquidneck Park outside the library.  All ages.

Please note: In the event of rain, the fair will take place as schedule inside the library.
