Step-Up Storytime for children 3 - 4 years old will be held on Thursday mornings at 10:30am from March 12th through April 16th.  This program consists of read-alounds, activity rhymes, songs and a craft project.  This program helps young children with developing social skills adn promotes an interest in reading.  Registration is required for the session and begins on Tuesday, February 24th.  To register, please visit the Children's Desk or call 847-8720 x204.  Held in the John Clarke Children's Program Room.

Children ages 6 - 12 are invited to attend LEGO club!  Building with LEGOs inspires creativity and helps lay the foundation for logical mathematical thinking, scientific reasoning and problem solving.  LEGO Club also provides the opportunity for team building and/or individual expression.  LEGO Club will meet every other Friday afternoon from 4:00pm - 5:00pm:  April 3rd and April 17thNo registration required - just drop in!

All materials will be provided for this free program.  LEGO creations must stay at the library, so bring a camera!  Please leave your own LEGOs at home so that you don't lose your favorite pieces.

Children ages 0 - 5 and a caregiver are invited to drop-in for guitar music, singing and dancing on Wednesdays at 10:30am from March 4th through April 15th.  This wonderful singing and movement program features kid favorites like "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes" and "If You're Happy and You Know It."

Local Spanish teacher Dana Edward Ramey will provide a Bilingual Storytime for families with children ages 3 - 12 on Saturday, April 11th at 11:00am.  These storytimes present children's books in English and Spanish, use songs and poems and provide a related activity.  Bilingual Storytime is excellent for families who speak Spanish as their first language, as well as for children who are learning English or Spanish as a second language.

Tweens, ages 8 - 12, are invited to join the Tween Advisory Group (TAG).  Participating in TAG will give kids an opportunity to be involved in what they see and do at the library.  TAG will meet once per month to discuss books, plan programs and work on special projects.  In addition, kids will enjoy a light snack and craft activity at every meeting!

The April meeting will be on Tuesday, April 14th at 4:00pm and the craft will be cupcake treat holders.

Ages 4 - 12.  A presentation by Casey Farm - learn about how chickens are raised on the farm along with information on the life cycle of a bird and all about eggs.  Touch and interact with a mother hen and baby chicks!

Casey Farm will also set up an incubator full of fertilized chicken eggs in the Children's Preschool Area.  Children can watch as the eggs take about 21 days to hatch (the chicks will hatch on or around May 12th).  Once the chicks hatch they will remain in the library for approximately 1 week before going home to the farm.  The process of eggs hatching into chicks may be observed live at the library or in real time over our web cam on the library website.

Ages 5 - 12.  From Hampstead Stage Company's website:  "Carlo Collodi's Pinocchio is the timeless tale of an Italian woodcarver, Geppetto, who carves a son out of a block of pine.  Join the wooden marionette on his journey to become a real boy!  Through Pinocchio's mischievous adventures, he discovers that to truly be human is to be good-hearted and brave.  This is a story of self-discovery, transformation, and redemption.  Through this play, we hope to teach students the importance of honesty, education, and gratitude."

ENRICHri, a non-profit, Rhode Island-based, secular homeschool group will present a free workshop for parents interested in homeschooling on Tuesday, April 28th @ 6:30pm in the lower level program room.  Topics for discussion include homeschooling laws in Rhode Island, reasons for choosing homeschooling, socialization, and curriculum planning.  Children are asked to remain at home as this event is geared toward adults.
