Children ages 6 and up are invited to attend a Haunted Halloween Craft Party on Saturday, October 25th from 2:30pm to 4:30pm in the John Clarke Children's Program Room.  Children are encouraged to dress in costumes and will have the opportunity to make a variety of spooky crafts.  Light refreshments will be served.

Registration is required and begins on Tuesday, October 7th.  All materials are provided for this free program.  For more information, contact the Children's Department at 847-8720 x204.

A Tiny Tots program for children birth to 23 months willl be held on Tuesday mornings at 11:30 from September 23rd through October 28th.  The program uses read-alouds, nursery rhymes, fingerplays and songs to help little ones learn the rhythms and patterns of speech.  Parents and children are given time to read board books together, followed by a brief play period and a chance for parents to network together.

 

Registration is required for the full 6-week session and is limited.  Registration begins Tuesday, September 9th.  All storytimes are free and all materials are provided.  Held in the John Clarke Children's Program Room.

Tweens, ages 8-12, are invited to join the new Tween Advisory Group (TAG).  Participating in our TAG will give kids an opportunity to be involved in what they see and do at the library.  TAG will meet once per month to discuss books, plan programs, and work on special projects.

The Tween Advisory Group will meet on Tuesday, October 28th at 3:30pm in the John Clarke Children's Program Room.  No Registration is required.  Snacks will be provided.  Bring your ideas and suggestions and help us launch this exciting new club!

A Tales for 2s program for children 2 years old will be held on Wednesday mornings at 10:30am from September 24th through October 29th.  The program features picture book read-alouds, rhymes, fingerplays, songs and a simple craft or activity.  This program is designed to help young children with developing verbal skills and promote an early interest in books and reading.

Book Buddies is a monthly book club for readers in grades 3, 4 and 5.  Children read and discuss a different book each month.  Children should read the book ahead of time and copies of the books are available at the Children's Desk.  At the meetings, children will discuss their thoughts and opinions about the book, and share their ideas over a simple snack.  Children will also enjoy a craft or activity related to the book.  For more information, visit the Book Buddies Blog:  http://www.nplbookbuddies.blogspot.com

The October meeting will take place on Wednesday, October 29th from 3:30pm-4:30pm in the John Clarke Children's Program Room.  Book Selections are forthcoming.

Local Spanish teacher Dana Edward Ramey will provide a Bilingual Storytime for families with children ages 3-12.  This storytime presents children's books in English and Spanish, uses songs and poems and provides a related activity.  Bilingual Storytime is excellent for families who speak Spanish as their first language as well as for children who are learning English or Spanish as a second language.  No registration is required, just drop in.  All materials will be provided for this free program.  Held in the John Clarke Children's Program Room.
