Mary Ellen Osborne, from the Gales Ferry Library, conducts a monthly book discussion at the Ledyard Senior Center. Anyone 55 years of age or older is eligible to participate. The group meets on the fourth Wednesday of the month at 10:30 am. Upcoming books are distributed monthly at the discussion. All books chosen are available in large print and audio, as well as, regular versions. Please contact Mary Ellen if you would like a copy of the book.
 
April's title is The Boston Girl by Anita Diamant.

Ledyard’s organization for knitters and crocheters, Stitch and Dish, open to all interested crafters, continues to meet at the Gales Ferry Library on the second Wednesday (at 7:00 p.m.) and fourth Wednesday (at 3:00 p.m.) of every month.
 
Yarn Bombing Day is right around the corner. Sunday, June 11, 2017 will be here before you know it. We got off to a great start last year, with colorful displays around town. This year we hope to make an even bigger impression. It’s all done in the spirit of beautification and fun.
 
How to celebrate Yarn Bombing Day? Get out there and bomb some yarn. Take out your crochet hook, knitting needles or whatever you have and join in the fun. Even if you have never knitted before we have something you can do. Do it for the yarn, do it for the fun or do it for your cat! Get out and Yarn Bomb!

All participants must register. Limited to 8 hands-on students.

Sawmill blacksmith, Scott Weeks, will teach us basic blacksmithing utilizing historical and modern materials. Two small projects will be completed and a sawmill tour will be conducted after class.

All materials and tools provided. Participants should wear natural fiber clothing and closed-toe shoes.  Bring leather gloves and goggles if possible.

Join us for a new, monthly discussion of cookbooks. The group will meet monthly, on the first Tuesday, at noon, at the Gales Ferry Library.
 
Each month, a cookbook will be distributed or if you are unable to make it stop in at either library to pick up a copy . Group members can peruse the cookbook for the month, trying as many recipes as they please. Bring a sample of one recipe to the next discussion for all to share. We will taste test and discuss the cookbook.
 
The first meeting will be an informational meeting and copies of the cookbook for the next month will be given out. If you can’t make it that day, contact Mary Ellen Osborne at 860-464-6943 to reserve a copy.
 
The cookbooks for upcoming dates will be available at the prior Cookbook Club and at Bill or Gales Ferry Library.
