Mary Ellen Osborne, from the Gales Ferry Library, conducts a monthly book discussion at the Ledyard Senior Center. Anyone 55 years of age or older is eligible to participate. The group meets on the fourth Wednesday of the month at 10:30 am.
 
Upcoming books are distributed monthly at the discussion. All books chosen are available in large print and audio as well as regular versions. Please contact Mary Ellen at mosborne@ledyard.lioninc.org or 860-464-6943 if you would like a copy of the book.
 
July's title is Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech.

The library knitting group, Stitch and Dish, meets at Gales Ferry Library on the second Wednesday at 7:00 pm and the fourth Wednesday at 3:00 pm. We have everything from beginners to experts willing to share their expertise. If you are looking for a fun group of knitters and crocheters who share your love of the needle arts, join in any time.
 
Everyone who likes to knit or crochet or wants to learn is welcome. We have a large selection of donated yarn and needles just waiting to be used.

Have you heard of Yarn Bombing? This year International Yarn Bombing Day was June 11. Our Stitch and Dish group participated in this event by adding colorful displays in the libraries and around town. Take a look around to see what has been yarn bombed!

Bring the whole family and a picnic dinner to eat at the end of the story in the pavilion on the fairgrounds.

You are part of Ledyard’s history!

Bring in your Gales Ferry and Ledyard memories to be added to the archive in the Janice W. Bell Historical Research Room at the Bill Library. We will scan your photos, letters, documents, memorabilia, etc., and return them to you with a digital copy when you bring a flash drive along. Class and sports team photos, pictures of your family and your home, mementos from prom, etc. are all welcome, whether from 1825, 1955, or 2005.

We are also putting out a call for Navy & Subase items.

We also take donations of materials related to the people, buildings, and events of Ledyard and Gales Ferry. Recent donations include newspaper clipping scrapbooks from the 1980s and pictures of the Lamb Homestead restoration.

Remember, you make history every minute.

Adults and teens entering grades 9 to 12

(Grades 5 to 8 welcome with personal adult assistant)

Seats limited to 12 people, due to space constraints.

Learn or brush up on basic sewing skills while making a simple project suitable for holiday gifts or personal use. The projects are a drink coaster, sports towel, or a Christmas tree ornament. Project samples will be available to view on the Maker page and at both libraries. Please choose one project at the time of registration to help us plan.

Fabric, patterns, and other supplies will be provided. You are welcome to bring any special fabric you would like to use.

We will have a limited number of sewing machines available, so please bring a sewing machine (serger or regular), scissors, seam ripper, etc. if you have them.
