Exploring Long Island's Underwater World
5:30 PM - 6:30 PM

This program will take place in the community room. 

Follow Chris Paparo, aka the “Fish Guy,” on an underwater tour of LI. Enjoy amazing photographs and videos of local fish, crustaceans, mollusks, and other assorted invertebrates while learning interesting facts about those creatures that you might encounter on a fishing trip or a stroll down the beach. A perfect event for anyone who has an appreciation for the ocean.

Italian Part 4

This program will take place in the community room.

See how learning to talk, speak, and write Italian can be both fun and easy. Join Salvatore Tocci as he guides you through the basics of a language of romance and passion. Learn some basic vocabulary, simple verb conjugation, reading comprehension, pronunciation, and idiomatic expressions.

Prerequisite: Italian Part 1, 2, and 3 or an intermediate knowledge of the Italian language.

Weekly assignments will be provided to reinforce what is covered in each session that begins on March 28 and ends on May 9. We will NOT  meet on Thursday, April 18.

This is a 6-week course designed for adults.

The Benefits of Volunteering

In the 1980s, Korean immigrant Jacob Yi (Steven Yuen) sought his piece of the American dream when he packed up his family from California for an Arkansas parcel where he'd farm his homeland's produce. The strains of their new existence, and the fitful bonding of sickly son David (Alan Kim) with the grandmother (Oscar-winner Youn Yuh-jung) come to help care for him, are lyrically explored in writer-director's Lee Isaac Chung's acclaimed, semi-autobiographical opus.

Code Crushers! Coding Club

Visit the library and use your Fiero Code library account to code your own video games! Sign up for your Fiero Code account using your Amagansett library card, and join our club to learn how video games are made. This is a work at your own pace coding club, where the #1 goal is fun.

Kids: Make a Mug!

For kids ages 5+, children ages 10 an under must be accompanied by an adult caregiver. 

Kids can draw and create designs that will be infused onto a mug for their favorite grown-up! Children that are comfortable using markers are welcome. Library staff will seal their designs onto a keepsake mug with a Cricut Mug Heat Press.

Creatures of the Night with Quogue Wildlife Refuge

This program will take place in our Community Room.

A variety of live nocturnal animals will be brought into the library for patrons of all ages to meet and learn about. We will learn the physical adaptations that each nocturnal animal has, as well as their diets and habitats. Discussion will also include native Long Island nocturnal wildlife.  This program is for all ages. This program is being brought to us by Quogue Wildlife Refuge.

Chair Boxing

Join Johnathan Arroyo for this Chair Boxing class! Chair Boxing is a moderate but effective full body workout. Johnathan will teach participants the fundamentals of boxing, coordination and balance.

Builder's Club

For children grades K-6. Children aged 10 and under must be accompanied by an adult caregiver. Materials will be available in sizes appropriate for children ages 5+ and 7+. 

We'll rotate through legos, magnatiles, K'nex, and more. Children can work together or independantly to build their very own creations using the library’s building materials! Be sure to bring your imagination.

Baby Playtime Parent Meet-Up

Drop in for some free play using the library's collection of toys for babies to three-year-old's while meeting fellow parents and caregivers.  A wonderful way for your little one to make new friends, learn social skills, and a special time to connect for babies and their adults.

Osteoporosis

This program will take place on Zoom.

Osteoporosis is a disease that weakens your bones making them thinner and less dense.  This can result in bone fractures which significantly impact quality of life.  Dr. Heidi Roppelt, board-certified rheumatologist at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, will discuss osteoporosis and osteopenia, the causes, as well as diagnosis, treatment and disease management.   This disease is more prevalent in women, although men can also be affected. This program is being presented by Stony Brook Southampton Library and East Hampton Library.

Using Them Up: How the World Makes Leftovers Taste Like New

Our Presenter is Jacquelyn Ottman, food waste advocate, culinary historian, immediate past chair of the Manhattan Solid Waste Advisory Board, and author, "Connecting from A Quarantine Kitchen, My Shelter Island Pandemic Story".

With attention focused on composting and food waste in the East of End Long Island these days, it's a great time to talk about the best food waste using strategy of all time: Repurposing Leftovers!

This highly colorful slide presentation given by a NYC-based food waste advocate, will help empower you to "shop your refrigerator" and transform what's left over from last night's dinner into something new and delicious. 

At the same time, you’ll learn how to save money, cut down on climate emissions and get inspired to make timeless dishes, like fried rice, fish cakes and frittatas used by food cultures around the world, for centuries, to roll extra food from one meal to the next. Plenty of time will be built in for questions and a lively, fun discussion.

The Magic of Aromatherapy for Tweens!

Oh the faeries are among us! In this whimsical class, we will discuss essential oils and their place in the world of enchantment. A magical class that will teach students how to make an uplifting “Sprite Spray” and a grounding “Dragon’s Blood” body balm. Each participant leaves with products they create, demonstration, recipes and resources. This program is being brought to you by Amadeus Aromatherapy. 

This program is open to "tweens" in grades 4-8. Registration is required.

Rest & Relax with Aromatherapy

This program will be held in the Community Room.

Lavender, Roman Chamomile, May Chang....all are relaxing and soothing to the body, mind and soul. Each has its own attributes that will help you rest and find a sense of peace. Follow along as Amadeus Aromatherapy makes a Rest and Relax spray and body lotion to help you rest and relax. The benefits of each essential oil will be discussed as will tips and tricks for using each product.

This program is open to adults and teens ages 14+.
