The Great Give Back - Sleep in Heavenly Peace

The Great Give back 2022

Sleep in Heavenly Peace is a local volunteer organization that builds beds for kids who are sleeping on the floor. In the last four years, they've delivered close to 800 beds in our region. From September 15 - October 15, we'll be collecting new (in original packaging) twin sheet sets, comforters, and pillows. SHP serves ages 3-17, so both children's-themed and teen/neutral-themed sheets are needed. In addition, we'll be collecting funds to build beds. For more ways to help (like building and delivery), visit http://www.shpbeds.org .

The Great Give Back was created by New York State libraries to provide a day of opportunities for patrons to participate in meaningful, service-oriented experiences.

Years after high school, four women return to the Finger Lakes to perform again as their quartet, Chrysalis. What still binds them together is not only their music but having to deal with their problematic mothers. While the adult daughters are rediscovering harmony in their singing and in their friendships, the mothers form bonds of their own -bonds made of secrets and new discoveries- and ultimately they find answers that bring the mothers and their daughters to a deeper understanding of themselves and their relationships to each other.

"The Dutch House" by Ann Patchett

At the end of the Second World War, Cyril Conroy combines luck and a single canny investment to begin an enormous real estate empire, propelling his family from poverty to enormous wealth. His first order of business is to buy the Dutch House, a lavish estate in the suburbs outside of Philadelphia. Meant as a surprise for his wife, the house sets in motion the undoing of everyone he loves. Cyril's son Danny and his older sister Maeve are exiled from the house where they grew up by their stepmother. The two wealthy siblings are thrown back into the poverty their parents had escaped from and find that all they have to count on is one another. Register
