How do I fix an event when the EDIT button isn't displayed?
+

What happens?

Sometimes when you are editing an event you might enter a character or string that is invalid.  EventKeeper tries to prevent this where possible but it still might happen.  For instance, you might be allowed to enter an HTML TITLE tag (the word TITLE surrounded by angle brackets).  You could save the event but when the event list was displayed, your browser would get to the TITLE tag in the event name and then stop displaying the rest of the event data because it was waiting for the END TAG that is supposed to go with the TITLE tag.

What is the problem?

Normally when you make a mistake editing an event, you just re-edit the event and fix things.  But in this situation, the nature of the problem prevents the EDIT button from being displayed.  So you can't just go in and fix the event.

What to do?

There is now a new secret trick which will let you fix this.  First, log in as an editor, then look at the URL in your browser's address field.  Look for the section of text that says "&curHelp=off", or sometimes "&curHelp=done".  Edit that portion of the address so that it says,  "&curHelp=EMERGENCYEDIT" and click GO.  This will tell EventKeeper to display an EDIT button at the very beginning of the display of the each event.  You can then click on this button even when the rest of the event is not displayed and you can re-edit the event, fixing the problem.
